Happy New Year!

I hope that everyone is ready for race season to begin. We've been focusing a good deal on fitness and technique for the past few weeks and now we'll still work on those two elements, but we're going to be racing about once a week from now until the end of the season.

This week:

  • Sunday 12:30-4:30: waxing at the Frenkiewich home. HS skiers need to be sure to wax as they are racing on Wednesday, MS should wax their freestyle skis as they haven't been done for a while. Endurance or Graphite (white or black) coat, followed by a coat of red and yellow

  • Monday: practice @ Proctor 4:00-5:30 Freestyle. We'll go over what happens on race days, warm-ups, starts, finishes, and cool-downs.

  • Tuesday: practice @ Proctor 4:00-5:30 Freestyle. Actually doing your pre-race routine and some fun with starts

  • Wednesday: HS Race @ Oak Hill. Dismissal 1:30 pm, Departure from HS 1:45 pm Race Arrive at Oak Hill 2:55 pm, All kids will race a 2.5k loop. The results from that race will be the posted race for the NHRL. It will also serve as a “qualifier”. We’ll have a 1k sprint (2 x .5k laps) with the top 10 boys and the top 10 girls. This will decide the podium for the day. Schedule of starts: 4:00 Boys, 4:30 Girls, 5:00 Boys Final Heat, 5:15 Girls Final Heat, Awards to follow,

  • Thursday: practice @ Proctor 4:00-5:30 Freestyle. Distance with some fun relays with the whole team in the field

  • Friday: practice @ Proctor 4:00-5:30 Freestyle. Intervals, L4-5 30 seconds, work on downhill speeds.

Looking ahead, parents please read and respond to the email asking for volunteers for the NH Nordic Coaches' Association Series races. These are big races that one school doesn't put on, but is put on by the whole state Nordic skiing community.

Next week, Paintball Biathlon on Tuesday January 14, for both HS and MS.

Still waiting for the jacket order to come in.

Please make sure to have healthy snacks and drinks for both before practice and after practice.
